This handbook for private undercover investigators discusses basic techniques, steps, and guidelines for investigations; types of investigations; and various kinds of investigative assignments.
Abstract
The discussions of the basics of investigations deal with the beginning of the assignment; conducting interviews; observation and learning retention; laws on arrest, search, and seizure; evidence; report writing; and meeting the threat of danger. The types of investigations for which guidance is provided include traffic accident investigations, insurance investigations, employee misconduct investigation, and narcotic and drug investigations. Attention is also given to reporting guard force activities and locating persons in rural areas. The various kinds of investigative assignments considered focus on the activities of a shipping and receiving department, warehouse security, dock security, transport security, retail store investigations, and hospital investigations. A 15-item bibliography is provided along with a subject index.
