This volume tabulates data collected and analyzed in the course of evaluating Phase II of the National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign sponsored by the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
Abstract
The media campaign, the largest and most comprehensive anti-drug media campaign ever undertaken by the Federal Government, features paid advertising. Responses from young people and parents to the evaluation of the media campaign are presented to demonstrate trends during baseline and follow-up periods. The data provide insights on the number of young people who saw selected advertisements, who agreed with statements about the effectiveness of advertisements and about attitudes toward drugs, who learned about drugs from specific sources, who used specific drugs, and who predicted they would use drugs in the future. The data also indicate the number of parents who saw selected advertisements, who agreed with statements about the effectiveness of advertisements and about drug attitudes, who exhibited awareness of the risks of using specific drugs, and who discussed drugs with their children. Youth variables are further broken down by sex, grade, ethnicity, and frequency of seeing drug-related television advertisements. Parent variables are further broken down by sex, age group, grade of oldest child, ethnicity, household income, education level, and frequency of seeing drug-related advertisements. Tables
