Abstract
State jail standards are set forth, and major legal issues are addressed. Topics covered include crisis intervention, testifying in court, restraint/control devices, incident report writing, inmate supervision, jail climate and discipline, and fire safety. Others include inmate transport, personal and cell searches, medical administration, substance abuse, and abnormal (mentally ill or retarded, suicidal) inmates. Additional sections examine community resources and relations and employee stress.
