Abstract
THIS BOOK IS A COLLECTION OF ARTICLES THAT FOCUS ON DEVIANCE, SCHIZOPHRENIA, AND DELINQUENCY AT THE PERSONALITY LEVEL. SCHIZOPHRENIA IS VIEWED AS AN ABERRATION OF AN INDIVIDUAL'S RELATIONSHIP WITH THE SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT, AND THEREFORE IS VIEWED AS A SPECIFIC CASE OF SOCIALLY DEVIANT BEHAVIOR. THE ARTICLES COVER VARIOUS SUBJECTS IN DEPTH AND INCLUDE: (1) AN ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECT OF FAMILY STRUCTURE AND RELATIONSHIPS ON JUVENILE DELINQUENCY; (2) AN EXAMINATION OF THE STATUS OF YOUTH-ADULT OFFENDERS IN ISRAEL; (3) A VIEW OF TYPES OF PERSONAL VIOLENCE IN AN IMMIGRANT SETTLEMENT FROM A SOCIOLOGICAL VIEWPOINT; (4) A FOCUS ON THE POLICE AND SOCIETY; (5) AN EXAMINATION OF THE TANTALUS RATIO, OR THE GAP BETWEEN PERSONAL DESIRES FOR PARTICIPATION AND SUBJECTIVELY DEFINED DISTANCE FROM PARTICIPATORY AIMS; (6) AN ANALYSIS OF THE EXTERNAL PRESSURES TOWARD DELINQUENCY AND SCHIZOPHRENIA; (7) A DEFINITION OF THE ISAAC SYNDROME, WHICH DESCRIBES THE NORMATIVELY SEPARATING PRESSURES BETWEEN FATHER AND SON; (9) A STATEMENT OF THE THEORY OF DEVIANCE AND 'CONTINGENT BEINGS'; AND (8) AN EXPLANATION OF STIGMA AS IT IS APPLIED TO SOCIAL DEVIANCE.
