This training manual for correctional officers in the Santa Clara County, California, Department of Correction Women's Detention Division identifies duties and responsibilities of correctional personnel and contains guidelines for correctional officer training performance appraisals.
Abstract
The training program of the Women's Detention Division is a law enforcement evaluation process established to provide new personnel with optimum training and ensure that correctional officers meet ability and performance requirements of the Women's Detention Division. The primary goal of the training program is to make each new member of the Women's Detention Division a fully trained and productive correctional officer. Constant observation and performance appraisal are essential components of the training program. Consequently, a daily appraisal report has been devised to provide an objective, standardized account of the trainee's progress. The training program incorporates both academic and practical dimensions.
