Beginning in 1988, the Louisville-Jefferson County (KY) Crime Commission began to gather information from education sources, treatment centers, law enforcement agencies, and the courts to establish a database on illegal drug use in the area.
Abstract
The data collected on incidents occurring between July 1988 and July 1989 covers the number of drug-related arrests in the county, the number of juvenile arrests involving drugs or alcohol, and the disposition of all drug-related criminal cases heard in county courts. The statistics refer to the average sentence length for drug offenders, the number of drug and alcohol related school incidents in the county, and the number of criminal justice clients served by area drug and alcohol treatment facilities. In addition, the report contains information on drug-related deaths occurring in Jefferson County during the reporting period and the number of drug-related emergency room incidents. Finally, the report outlines the amount of drugs seized and purchased by law enforcement agencies during their operations and the assets seized and forfeited by local agencies. 15 tables and 7 figures
