WITH GAULT AS THE PIVOT, THE SPEAKER SKETCHES THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE JUVENILE COURT FROM PARENS PATRIAE, FOCUSING ON BENCHMARK DECISIONS OF THE SUPREME COURT REGARDING JUVENILES AND JUVENILE COURT PROCEEDINGS.
Abstract
EMPHASIZED IS HOW INCONSISTENCIES STILL ARE TOO OFTEN PRESENT IN THE TREATMENT OF JUVENILES AND BETWEEN THE JUVENILE TREATMENT AND THE TREATMENT OF ADULTS. ALSO CONSIDERED IS HOW PERTINENT CASE LAW, BASED ON THE DOCTRINES OF DUE PROCESS, AND FUNDAMENTAL FAIRNESS, MAY SERVE AS BELLWEATHERS OF FUTURE DECISIONS. THESE CASSETTES REPRESENT HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SUMMER COLLEGE FOR JUVENILE AND FAMILY COURT JUDGES AND REFEREES.
