Abstract
NINE PRESENTATIONS DEALT WITH THE FOLLOWING SUBJECT AREAS: (1) HISTORICAL VIEW OF JUDICIAL DISCIPLINE, (2) JUDICIAL TENURE, (3) INHERENT POWER OF A STATE'S HIGHEST COURT TO DISCIPLINE THE JUDICIARY, (4) GROUNDS FOR JUDICIAL DISCIPLINE IN THE CONTEST OF JUDICIAL DISCIPLINARY COMMISSIONS, (5) TWO-TIER JUDICIAL DISCIPLINARY SYSTEM IN ILLINOIS, (6) MICHIGAN'S UNITARY SYSTEM OF JUDICIAL DISCIPLINE, (7) NEW YORK'S APPROACH TO JUDICIAL DISCIPLINE THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT OF A COMMISSION, (8) PROCEDURES FOR JUDICIAL DISCIPLINE (TYPE OF COMMISSION, DUE PROCESS, AND RIGHT TO COUNSEL), AND (9) BURDEN OF PROOF, SANCTIONS, AND CONFIDENTIALITY.
