This article presents the spontaneous script developed at the North Carolina Correctional Center for Women.
Abstract
About 40 female heroin-addicted inmates participated in a weekly rap group, and began to use psychodrama as a creative path to self-expression and self-understanding, and as a way to describe their unique situation to an outside community. The script features roles significant to female drug abusers, i.e., pusher, addict, family member, prostitute, and outsider. The script portrays the emotional relationships, life style, and social situations of women involved in the world of drug abuse. 5 references
