OPERATIONS AND SYSTEM ORGANIZATION, FOCUSING ON APPLICATIONS SUCH AS COURT MANAGEMENT, CORRELATION OF BACKGROUND WITH DELINQUENCY HISTORY, AND PRODUCTION OF COMPLETE AND CURRENT FILE INFORMATION.
Abstract
THE PARTICULAR NEED FOR THE JUVENILE UNIFORM REFERRAL INFORMATION SYSTEM (JURIS) IN THE ST. LOUIS AREA IS FIRST DISCUSSED. OBJECTIVES OF THE SYSTEM, SUCH AS COURT MANAGEMENT EFFICIENCY, PRODUCTION OF FILE INFORMATION, AND AUTOMATION OF REPETITIVE CLERICAL OPERATIONS ARE EXPLAINED. THE FIVE SUBSYSTEMS OF JURIS ARE DESCRIBED AND THEIR APPLICATIONS DISCUSSED. THE BASE/REFERRAL PROCESSING MODULE PROVIDES PERSONAL INFORMATION, REASON FOR REFERRAL OF THE JUVENILE, SOCIAL BACKGROUND, AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR DISPOSITION TO JUDICIAL OFFICIALS. THE ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROL MODULE PROVIDES CALENDARING AND FINANCIAL INFORMATION, AND THE COUNSELOR EVALUATION MODULE CONSIDERS VARIOUS ASPECTS OF EACH CASE TO DETERMINE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF TREATMENT. FINALLY, THE CORRECTIONAL PROBABILITY AID MODULE IS USED IN CORRELATIONS OF BACKGROUND, DELINQUENT BEHAVIOR, AND TREATMENT PROGRAM SUCCESS, FOR PREDICTION AND RECOMMENDATION PURPOSES.
