The 1990 annual report for the Huron County, Ohio, Juvenile Court indicates a steady increase in the court's workload with the number of hearings and trials up 104 percent and the number of cases up 65 percent.
Abstract
Despite an increased workload, the Huron County Juvenile Court has limited a rise in general fund expenditures to 35 percent through computerization, planning, and new programming. The annual report shows that most complaints involving juvenile delinquents made to the Norwalk Police Department involved males. Complaints of unruly juveniles made to the police department involved more females than males. Violations documented in the Juvenile Court primarily included theft and shoplifting, breaking and entering, ungovernable youth, school truancy, liquor law violations, and probation violations. Most delinquent and unruly youth were between 13 and 17 years of age. There were 72 complaints of abused, dependent, or neglected children as well as 691 traffic complaints, 2,112 hearings, and 269 trials. Financial and workload data on Juvenile Court operation for 1990 are provided. 20 tables
