Abstract
THE PROVISIONS CITED ARE FROM THE ORIGINAL OR AMENDED 1969 CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS ACT AND THE 1970 RULES FROM THE MAGISTRATES COURTS, AND ARE REFERENCED TO THE APPROPRIATE SECTIONS AND SCHEDULES. THE BOOKLET'S SEVEN SECTIONS INCLUDE (1) DEFINITIONS OF SUCH TERMS AS CHILD, YOUNG PERSON, AGE, AND GUARDIAN; (2) THE JUVENILE COURT'S STRUCTURE, AND PLACES AND TIMES OF SITTINGS; (3) RULES GOVERNING JUVENILE OFFENDERS' BAIL, DETENTION, COURT PROCEDURE, REMAND, COURT POWERS, APPEAL, AND REOPENING OF CASES; (4) CARE PROCEEDINGS IN JUVENILE COURTS; (5) THE 1948 CHILDREN ACT; (6) ADOPTION OF CHILDREN; AND (7) MISCELLANEOUS SUBJECTS SUCH AS SEARCH WARRANTS, DEPOSITIONS, AND CHILD WITNESSES. THE BOOKLET WAS WRITTEN BY AN ATTORNEY WHO WAS THE SENIOR CHIEF CLERK OF THE INNER LONDON JUVENILE COURTS. REFERENCE IS MADE IN THE TEXT TO ANTICIPATED CHANGES IN THE LAW. AN INDEX IS PROVIDED. (CFW)
