This report presents 1982 data collected through Nebraska'a Juvenile Court Reporting (JCR) System to indicate the volume of juvenile crime, offender characteristics, and juvenile case dispositions.
Abstract
The particular indicator used to estimate the degree of crime is the flow of juveniles through the Nebraska juvenile court system. Data sources are the juvenile courts of Douglas, Lancaster, and Sarpy Counties and the county courts in the remaining 90 counties. The data cover major and minor (status) offense frequencies, and neglect/dependent case frequencies, reason referred, source of court referrals, total prior referrals by reason for referral, juvenile court dispositions, elapsed time between date of referral and date of disposition for cases by offense category, and reason referred by age, ethnic group, and living arrangement. Other data cover disposition by age and by sex as well as the source of referrals and dispositions in the separate juvenile courts of Douglas, Lancaster, and Sarpy Counties, as well as all other counties. The report includes a description of the JCR system. An appendix contains county juvenile arrest and juvenile court data for 1982.
