This report explains the variables and coding information and the data set that describes in quantitative terms the volume of juvenile cases disposed in 1984 by courts in the United States with jurisdiction over juvenile delinquency as well as status and juvenile dependency cases.
Abstract
The data file is part of a series of reports initiated in 1926 and is the oldest continuous source of information on the processing of delinquent and dependent youth by juvenile courts. Information is provided on the State, the county, the number of delinquency cases by sex, the number of dependency cases by sex, and the total number of cases. Explanation of the data collection methods and sources for each State, list of definitions, and appended list of counties and their codes.
