Data on juvenile cases under State jurisdiction for 1932 cover trends in delinquency and dependency-and-neglect cases and case and offender characteristics; data on Federal juvenile-offender cases provide similar data for July-December 1932.
Abstract
Data on delinquency cases cover the number of cases processed; the sex, age, color, and nativity of offenders; home conditions; source and reason for referral to the court; previous court experience; place of care pending hearing or disposition; and case disposition. Data on dependency-and-neglect cases cover similar topics. Data are also provided on the number of juveniles discharged from supervision both for cases of delinquency and dependency and neglect. After reporting on trends in the number of cases involving Federal juvenile offenders, data are provided on case characteristics of such offenders. Data cover geographical distribution; offender sex, age, and race; State of home residence; offense; period between arrest and disposition; release prior to final disposition; bail; place of detention; length of detention; case disposition; probation term; term of commitment to juvenile institutions; and term of sentence to jails and other penal institutions. 74 tables.
