INTENDED AS A BASIC REFERENCE ON THE NECESSARY ELEMENTS FOR THE COMPREHENSIVE JUVENILE DELINQUENCY PLANNING PROCESS, THIS BOOKLET REVIEWS THE OBJECTIVES OF THIS PROCESS AND DISCUSSES THE FORMULATION OF WRITTEN PLANS.
Abstract
JUVENILE DELINQUENCY PLANNING, APART FROM ITS CONTRIBUTION TO EFFECTIVE DELINQUENCY PREVENTION AND CONTROL, IS A REQUIRED ELEMENT FOR PARTICIPATION IN LEAA ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS UNDER THE JUVENILE DELINQUENCY AND OMNIBUS CRIME CONTROL ACTS. THIS PUBLICATION IS AIMED AT THOSE WHO ARE NEWLY INVOLVED IN THE PLANNING PROCESS, PARTICULARLY MEMBERS OF GROUPS, AGENCIES, AND ORGANIZATIONS WHO MAY BE CALLED UPON TO PARTICIPATE. THE BOOKLET FIRST REVIEWS THE NATURE OF JUVENILE DELINQUENCY, AND THEN EXAMINES THE ROLE OF THE PLANNER AND THE OBJECTIVES OF COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING. THE USES OF THE WRITTEN PLAN ARE DEFINED, AND THE FUNCTIONS OF THE WRITTEN PLAN IN DEFINING THE PROBLEM, IDENTIFYING RESOURCES, PLANNING FOR IMPLEMENTATION AND EVALUATION, AND DETERMINING PROGRAM PRIORITIES AND SCHEDULES ARE DISCUSSED.
