This report presents statistics on Minnesota's juvenile (10- to 17-years old) female population, female juvenile apprehensions, and juvenile female victims.
Abstract
Statistics on Minnesota's juvenile female population are shown for each year from 1973 through 1992. Juvenile female population projections are presented for each year from 1992 through 2010. Juvenile female population projections by race and ethnicity are for 2020. The races for which populations are projected are African-Americans; Asian and Pacific Islanders; Caucasian; American Indian, Eskimo, and Aleut; Hispanics; and "other races." Statistics on arrests show the percentage of female juveniles arrested for Part I violent and property crimes each year from 1973 through 1992. The percentage of female juveniles arrested for Part II crimes are shown for the same years. A table shows the number of 1992 juvenile arrests by offense according to gender. Data are presented from a 1993 crime survey to show the number of juvenile female victims of property and violent crime. A 1992 student survey of 6th, 9th, and 12th graders obtained information on physical and sexual abuse.
