The 1977 provisions of an act to amend the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974 and the 1977 amendments to the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 are delineated.
Abstract
Sections of the Juvenile Justice Amendments are concerned with the definition of juvenile delinquency programs, the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Office, Federal assistance for State and local programs, and the confidentiality of program records. Other sections deal with the National Institute for Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, the Institute Advisory Committee, administrative provisions, and runaway youth. Juveniles' records and the establishment of the Office of Youth Assistance are the subjects of further sections. The amendments to the Omnibus act are concerned with State compliance with sections of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevetion Act and with State planning agency membership.
