This report provides an 8-year longitudinal analysis of juvenile justice detention programs in Florida.
Abstract
The first section focuses on the secure detention population, tabulating statistics on secure detention admissions and transfers, secure detention bed utilization, secure detention average length of stay, and secure detention reviews. Detention program indicators incorporated in these analyses include escapes, client on client assaults, client on staff assaults, room confinement, disciplinary confinement, use of mechanical restraints, and direct file, waiver or indictment. The report also contains statistics on dependent youth in secure detention, detention overtime hours, and statistics on home detention, including admissions and transfers, slot utilization, average length of stay, returns to secure detention, and home detention reviews.
