Recent developments in the area of juvenile law are reviewed at the 1981 National Conference on Juvenile Justice.
Abstract
The director of a juvenile justice legal advocacy project in California cites U.S. Supreme Court, California Supreme Court, and other California court cases relating to consents to bedroom searches, juveniles' private property rights, and the admissibility in court of incriminating statements made to juvenile probation officers. Next, a past president of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges outlines recent court decisions relating to childrens' rights to contraceptive devices and abortion and to parents' rights to corporal punishment of children and to the choice of a child's religion. Finally, the first speaker summarizes recent legal developments concerning bootstrapping status offenders, court authority to order restitution, due process requirements for restitution orders, and determining the amount of restitution. A table of contents is included.
