Abstract
THE BASES AND APPLICATION OF THE JUVENILE OFFENDER'S RIGHT TO TREATMENT ARE EXAMINED. COMPLEMENTARY RIGHTS OF INMATES IN JUVENILE INSTITUTIONS SUCH AS FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS TO FREE FROM CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT ARE EXPLORED. EDUCATIONAL AND THERAPY PROGRAMS AS FORMS OF TREATMENT TO WHICH JUVENILE OFFENDERS ARE ENTITLED ARE ALSO DISCUSSED. THE MOVE TOWARD COMMUNITY TREATMENT PROGRAMS IN AN EFFORT TO REFORM JUVENILE CORRECTIONS PRACTICES IS BRIEFLY CONSIDERED.
