This manual provides instructions for application of the provisions of the Kansas Sentencing Guidelines Act.
Abstract
Following the basics of the sentencing guidelines, the remaining eight chapters of the 2007 Kansas Sentencing Commission Desk Reference Manual outline the procedures prior to sentencing, determining crime severity levels, criminal history rules and special applications in determining criminal history, requirements of presentence investigation reports, sentencing range, options, and rules, appellate review principles, community sanctions and postrelease supervision, and points of interest in the areas of retroactivity provisions and retroactive application of guidelines, sentencing protocol, guidelines for the prosecution, defense, field services officers, and clerks of the courts. The manual contains features that are intended to both inform users of the latest developments in the Sentencing Guidelines and help facilitate more efficient use of the Manual and guidelines application.
