This annual report discusses the dimensions of four areas of the Nations' drug problems: illicit drug use, drug-related crime, drugs in the workplace, and the impact of drugs on health and health care costs. It assesses the impact of Federal drug control spending and identifies strategies and programs that are successful in communities nationwide.
Abstract
The focus of this report is on Federal drug control spending for women. This report looked at alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use, particularly crack cocaine among women from different perspectives: public health, criminal justice, impact on children, treatment and prevention arenas. This report explored the impact of drug abuse on not only women but also on their families and society. The latest research on women's use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs is brought together here with suggestions for the most effective concentration of resources. The report highlights particular programs for women and girls and their families throughout the Nation.
