This report highlights new programs initiated by the Kentucky Corrections Cabinet to improve corrections inservice training and inmate services in the State.
Abstract
The Cabinet emphasized community correctional centers and halfway houses to reduce prison overcrowding. A new 97-bed forensic psychiatric hospital was opened to improve health services, and plans have been made to gain accreditation for four of the State's institutions. A jail standards commission is being formed, and alternative sentencing conferences are being conducted. Corrections statistics are appended. Graphs, tables, and photographs are included.
