THIS SECOND ANNUAL REPORT PRESENTS STATISTICAL DATA COMPILED FROM REPORTS FILED WITH THE KENTUCKY STATE POLICE, THE CENTRALIZED COLLECTING AGENCY FOR ALL ACCIDENT REPORTS IN THE STATE.
Abstract
IT IS NOTED THAT THE 958 TRAFFIC DEATHS RECORDED IN 1977 CONSTITUTE A 10 PERCENT INCREASE OVER 1976. THE DEATH RATE OF 3.5 PER 100 MILLION VEHICLE MILES IN 1977 IS INDICATED TO BE A 6 PERCENT INCREASE OVER 1976. THE RECKLESS DRIVING PATTERNS OF YOUNG MALES ON RURAL ROADS IS PARTICULARLY MENTIONED AS A TRAFFIC SAFETY PROBLEM IN KENTUCKY.
