Young recovering alcoholics and drug users tell their experiences to high school students as part of a drug and alcohol prevention program.
Abstract
The videocassette presents two programs, one on alcoholism and one on drug abuse. The discussion covers the speakers' experiences with peer pressure to drink, with their parents' attitude towards drinking, with their parents as role models, with the effects of alcohol manufacturers' marketing techniques, and with the influence of alcohol and drugs on the speakers' behavior. The program also discusses tolerance for alcohol, disposition to alcoholism, and indicators of alcoholism so that parents, teachers, and friends can recognize the symptoms and encourage treatment.
