This report presents police statistics on arrests, offenses, traffic law enforcement, and other issues addressed by the King County (Wash.) Sheriff’s Office during 1999.
Abstract
The statistics revealed 20,344 Part I offenses and 20,615 Part II offenses during the year, a decline of 7.1 percent for Part I offenses and 7.7 percent for Part II offenses in comparison to 1998. The Part I offenses included 19 criminal homicides, 232 forcible rapes and attempted rapes, 421 robberies, 721 aggravated assaults, 1,032 commercial burglaries, 2,660 residential burglaries, 5,086 larcenies amounting to more than $250, 6,903 larcenies amounting to less than $250, 2,926 vehicle thefts, and 344 arsons. The agency received 334,076 calls for service, an increase of 12.9 percent from 1998. Other data included 7,250 adult charges/arrests, 1,784 juvenile charges/arrests, 30 officers assaulted, 142 gang-related incidents, and 46,434 cases of traffic law enforcement.
