This document presents the 2004 annual report of the King County Sheriff's Office.
Abstract
Statistical data are offered on crime rates by offense and crime rates by precinct. Overall for King County, criminal homicide increased 9.5 percent since 2003, forcible rape increased 22.1 percent, robbery increased 2.5 percent, and residential burglary increased 4.7 percent. Only aggravated assault and arson saw decreases since 2003, with aggravated assault down 7.7 percent and arson down 1.6 percent in 2004. Statistical data are also presented for the criminal investigation division, including summaries of the activities of the major investigations section, the special investigations section, and the specialized units. Information on adult and juvenile charges, arrests, and citations is offered, followed by data on dispatched calls for service by patrol districts and response times. The final section presents 2004 data on traffic enforcement activity, traffic accident investigations, and specialized units, such as the K-9 Unit and the Hostage Negotiation Team. Also included in this section is information on the workload indications of the marine unit, the activities of the community oriented units, and the activity of the metro transit. All information is presented in table format with no accompanying narrative. Glossary
