Abstract
In this article, the authors analyze the possible unintentional institutionalized racism concealed in procedures used in order to recruit individuals to the French police force. By examining the French police department’s recruitment procedures, the authors find that ethnicity and gender may have an inherent influence on an individuals’ success or failure on police examinations. However, this article cautions the reader against considering the influence of ethnicity and gender out of local contexts.
