Landmine Monitor, a unique initiative of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, collects information and assesses progress and problems in the international community's response to the global land mine crisis.
Abstract
The report, produced by a global reporting network of 115 researchers from 95 countries, contains information on every country in the world with respect to anti-personnel land mine use, production, stockpiling, trade, humanitarian de-mining, mine awareness education, and mine survivor assistance. The Landmine Monitor initiative marks the first time non-governmental organizations have come together in an on-going, coordinated, and systematic way to monitor and report on the implementation of an international disarmament or humanitarian treaty, in particular the 1997 Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production, and transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and On Their Destruction.
