PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMS OF ADULTS RESULTING FROM THEIR SEXUAL ABUSE AS CHILDREN ARE DEPICTED IN SEVERAL GROUP COUNSELING SESSIONS SHOWN IN THIS FILM.
Abstract
THE WOMEN SHOWN IN THESE PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELING SESSIONS ALL DISPLAYED SOME TYPE OF DISORDER RESULTING FROM A RAPE OR SEXUAL ABUSE WHEN THEY WERE CHILDREN. THE FILM CONTAINS VERY EMOTIONAL SEQUENCES, WHERE SEVERAL OF THE WOMEN BREAK DOWN IN TEARS. THE COUNSELING SESSION IS INTENDED TO SHOW THE PROBLEMS THE WOMEN WERE EXPERIENCING AND TO DISCUSS THEM OPENLY TO MINIMIZE THEIR FEAR. SEVERAL WOMEN WERE HAVING MARRIAGE DIFFICULTIES AND OTHERS WERE SIMPLY AFRAID OF MEN. SOME OF THEM WERE HOMOSEXUALLY ABUSED BY THEIR MOTHERS, WHICH ALSO CAUSED PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMS. AFTER THESE THERAPY SESSIONS, THE WOMEN MAY BE ABLE TO LIVE NORMAL LIVES, BUT THE FEELINGS OF GUILT MAY STAY WITH THEM FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. AN INSTRUCTOR'S MANUAL IS INCLUDED.
