Abstract
THE AUTHOR UTILIZES THE VARIOUS ASPECTS OF A CASE THAT WAS LITIGATED IN THE FEDERAL COURTS OF SOUTH CAROLINA IN THE SIXTIES TO PROVIDE A RUDIMENTARY EXPLANATION OF THE LAW AND THE LEGAL SYSTEM. BACKGROUND NOTES CANVASS THE PROBLEMS RAISED BY THE CASE AND PRESENT BACKGROUND INFORMATION ABOUT THE LEGAL SYSTEM. THE POSTSCRIPT CONTAIN DISCUSSIONS ON THE FUTURE OF THE LEGAL PROFESSION, LEGAL EDUCATION, AND THE LAW AND OTHER DISCIPLINES. THE APPENDIX CONSIDERS SOME BASIC QUESTIONS OF THE ENTERING LAW STUDENT, SUCH AS HOW TO SUMMARIZE AN ASSIGNED CASE AND HOW TO COPE WITH LAW EXAMINATIONS.
