This September 2011 issue features four main articles, surveillance and technology reports, a realistic simulated training study, and two feature articles.
Abstract
This issue includes four main articles: 1) The Logistics of a WMD Response about how agencies need to be better prepared for Weapons of Mass Destruction threats through proper training, funding, and the necessary equipment; 2) Investigator's Round Table Goes National which discusses how the Information Sharing Environment (ISE) gives investigators instant access to information obtained from both State and National sources; 3) Police Need Counter Terrorism Training which examines how local law enforcement needs to maintain vigilance for signs of possible terrorist threats and where training for that can be found; and 4) Improving Inter-Agency Relations examines how a multi-agency communication committee can help first and secondary responders communicate to reach the mission's goals. Two special reports take a look at several companies and their multi-camera and pan-tilt-zoom camera systems and video analytics software which provides a few trained personnel the ability to monitor hundreds of cameras at once. Three additional articles discuss the Meggitt Training Study which looked at a soldier/officer's survival response in high-stress scenarios; pistol-mounted LEDs from five major companies; and full-contact defensive techniques to defend against strikes. Regular departments include: On the Job; News; Just Handed Down; Eye on Education; Fleet Management; Flashlight Showcase; Advertiser Indexes; and Product Spotlight.
