Abstract
Transforming Data Into Information for Effective Law Enforcement" describes the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife's blending of "anywhere" RMS access with cross-system interoperability in order to achieve total data awareness state-wide by using CODY Systems. "Microsoft SharePoint" profiles a software package that provides a powerful, flexible information sharing platform that increases the data-sharing within agencies while also enabling information sharing between nearby agencies. "Polaris Wireless Location Solutions" presents an example of a high-accuracy wireless location solution that is touted as the future of law enforcement. "Hartford, CT Active Shooter Exercise" describes a demonstration by the Hartford Police (Connecticut) that rapid response challenges can be mitigated and overall response improved by using a technology called Mutualink. It provides real-time interoperable communications and multimedia sharing technologies. "Maximizing Life-Saving in Active Shootings, Part 1" describes the Hillsboro (Oregon) Active Shooter Model, which focuses on establishing and defending a safe "Casualty Collection Point" where firefighter paramedics can be granted early entry and secure access for treating and transporting the wounded. "Command and Tactical Situational Awareness" argues for police training in tactical situation awareness that provides officers with the skills needed to respond quickly to an ambush or any dangerous encounter. "The CLeaR Concept" explains the concept of the acronym that refers to Command Post, Containment, Long Rifle, and React Team. This refers to action that should be taken immediately in gaining control over critical incidents, such as barricades and hostage situations. Other articles feature a full line of female officer's apparel, training for bicycle patrols, as well as seven articles from magazine departments.
