PRESENTATION OF THE CIVIL, CRIMINAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEEDINGS WHICH AFFECT THE URBAN POOR AND THE FACTORS WHICH CAUSE THE LAW TO WORK AGAINST THEM.
Abstract
WRITTEN IN NON-TECHNICAL LANGUAGE, THIS VOLUME DESCRIBES THE LEGAL BUREAUCRACY AND METHODS OF DEALING WITH IT FOR THE CITY-DWELLING POOR. IT EXPLAINS THE CONSTITUTIONAL BASIS FOR THE LAWS AND THE WAY IN WHICH ATTORNEYS AND JUDGES FUNCTION WITHIN THE SYSTEM. THE 'GROUND RULES' OF THE CRIMINAL LAW - SEARCH AND SEIZURE, INTERROGATION, WITNESS IDENTIFICATION, AND ADMISSIBLE EVIDENCE - ARE EXAMINED. THE LAWS OF HOUSING, DIVORCE, BUSINESS, AND WELFARE ARE DISCUSSED AS ARE JUVENILE AND STUDENT RIGHTS.
