This manual presents instructions and forms for use by law enforcement officers and elementary and secondary school teachers in establishing team relationships to increase the effectiveness of law enforcement officers in classes on law-related education.
Abstract
The manual presents a model based on two successful educator-law enforcement officer partnerships: (1) the Michigan Law-Related Education Cooperative Program with the Michigan State Police and (2) the program involving the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. The guidelines emphasize the importance of cooperative planning and training efforts. They give examples of how the model was initiated and implemented in Michigan and St. Louis. Appendixes presenting sample letters and forms, sample lesson plans and teaching strategies, and background information about law-related education.
