THE VENTURA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT DEVELOPED A LAW ENFORCEMENT EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR PRESENTATION TO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS.
Abstract
AN EVALUATION OF THE PROGRAM REVEALED THAT THE YOUTH OF VENTURA COUNTY GENERALLY HOLD NEGATIVE VIEWS TOWARDS LAW, RULES, AND POLICE. FURTHERMORE, ALTHOUGH THE LAW ENFORCEMENT EDUCATION PROGRAM WAS GENERALLY SUCCESSFUL AT CONVEYING INFORMATION, IT HAD NOT, AT THE TIME OF THE EVALUATION, EFFECTED MUCH ATTITUDE CHANGE IN THE STUDENTS.
