THE RESORT CITY OF VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA USES LAW STUDENTS TO SUPPLEMENT ITS REGULAR FORCE DURING THE SUMMER SEASON.
Abstract
STUDENTS ARE RECRUITED FROM NEARBY LAW SCHOOLS AND RECEIVE ONE WEEK'S TRAINING IN LOCAL POLICIES, LAWS OF ARREST, COMMUNICATIONS, JUVENILE PROBLEMS, TRAFFIC PROBLEMS, BEAT PATROL TECHNIQUES, REPORT WRITING, RULES OF EVIDENCE, PUBLIC RELATIONS, AND THE USE OF FIREARMS. AMONG THE ADVANTAGES OF THE PROGRAM ARE THAT LAW STUDENT HAS A KNOWLEDGE OF LEGAL LIMITS, INCLUDING THE RIGHTS OF OTHERS AND IS CONSCIENTIOUS AND EAGER TO LEARN, KNOWING HIS EXPERIENCE WILL BENEFIT HIM THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER.
