THE LEGAL PROFESSION'S CONCERN TOWARD SOLVING PROBLEMS IS DEMONSTRATED TO POLICE AND MINORITIES.
Abstract
POLICE AND MINORITY GROUPS SHARE A COMMON FEELING OF ISOLATION FROM, AND LACK OF UNDERSTANDING BY, THE BROADER COMMUNITY. THE COMMITTEE'S GOAL WAS TO COUNTERBALANCE EXISTING PRESSURES ON THE POLICE TO ALLOW ENLIGHTENED ACTION, AND TO AFFORD THE MINORITY A PIPELINE TO THE CITY POWER. CITIES OF DETROIT, ATLANTA, AND SEATTLE WERE USED IN INTENSIVE POLICE-COMMUNITY RELATIONS PROJECTS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS WERE MADE. A RELATED ACTIVITIES SECTION DISCUSSED PROJECTS AND PUBLICATIONS FROM MIAMI BEACH, WASHINGTON, DC, AND DADE COUNTY. APPENDIXES CONTAIN MEMORANDA, PLANS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE PILOT CITIES.
