Abstract
THIS ARTICLE, CONSISTING OF THREE SEPARATE SECTIONS AUTHORED BY SEPARATE INDIVIDUALS EXPLORES SEVERAL USES TO WHICH THE STANDARDS MAY BE PUT BY THE PRACTICING BAR. IT IS STATED THAT THE STANDARDS OFFER AN EFFECTIVE BUT UNDER UTILIZED TEACHING RESOURCE IN LAW SCHOOLS, PRACTICE CLINICS, AND CONTINUING LEGAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS. SEVERAL OF THE PROSECUTION FUNCTION STANDARDS ARE EXAMINED, AND THE EFFORTS OF THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE TO CONFORM TO THEIR ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS ARE DESCRIBED. APPLICATIONS OF THE STANDARDS RELATING TO THE DEFENSE FUNCTION ARE CONSIDERED AS WELL. FINALLY, A DISCUSSION OF WHAT THE STANDARDS CAN MEAN TO THE PRACTICING LAWYER IS PROVIDED.
