Abstract
A PROPOSAL TO INCREASE THE ROLE OF LAYMEN IN COURT PROCEEDINGS HAS PROMPTED THE COMPILATION OF A BIBLIOGRAPHY DRAWN MAINLY FROM LIBRARIES IN SCANDINAVIA AND THE UNITED STATES. MANY PUBLICATIONS ON THE JURY WERE INCLUDED BECAUSE THEY ARE APPLICABLE TO THE USE OF LAY MAGISTRATES. COUNTRIES PARTICIPATING IN THE SURVEY INCLUDE CHINA, INDIA, SEVERAL AFRICAN AND LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRIES, AND MOST EUROPEAN COUNTRIES. THE BIBLIOGRAPHY IS DIVIDED INTO COMMON LAW AND CONTINENTAL LAW COUNTRIES WITH ENTRIES LISTED ACCORDING TO INDIVIDUAL COUNTRIES.
