Learning goals and objectives, content outline, narrative overview, and resource materials are presented for each module of a workshop designed to assist in identifying initial strategies for continuing crime prevention activities beyond LEAA and Office of Community Anti-Crime Programs funding.
Abstract
The module on Volunteer and Community Development has the goals of (1) enhancing participants' awareness of the potential for community involvement in the continuation of crime prevention activities and (2) increasing participants' awareness of how to generate and use volunteer interest and capability. Learning goals of the module concerned with developing strategies for continuing crime prevention activities are to assist participants in the identification of needs and issues within their communities that will not be met if the projects were to cease and to help participants draft recommendations as to how LEAA may provide needed nonfiscal support. The module on preparing to impact local government budgets intends to increase participants' understanding of the budget processes of local governments, enhance skills in analyzing local budgets, and provide techniques for citizen involvement in local budgets. The module dealing with the grant close-out and property-disposition process describes the required reporting and recordkeeping procedures for grant close-out, as well as the regulations governing the use and disposition of property purchased with LEAA funds. A fifth module deals with networking and coalition building. Bibliographies and learning logs accompany each module.
