Abstract
An overview of jurisdiction focuses on the legislative division of powers, the classification of offenses, time limitations, territorial limitations, change of venue, and jurisdiction under the Charter. Additional sections examine pretrial procedure and practices including search and seizure law, electronic surveillance, charging and compelling attendance at trial, bail, the right to counsel, and the right to remain silent. Further sections examine trial procedures and the roles of the defense attorney and prosecutor, discovery, jury trials, and post-conviction remedies. Table of cases
