A COLLECTION OF READINGS THAT UPHOLD THE ACCURACY OF THE POLYGRAPH AND WHICH SUGGEST-COLLECTIVELY THAT THE 1923 RULING IN FRYE V. UNITED STATES SHOULD BE OVERTURNED AND POLYGRAPH RESULTS SHOULD BE ADMISSIBLE AS EVIDENCE.
Abstract
THE READINGS CERTIFY THAT THE POLYGRAPH MEETS STANDARDS FOR ADMISSIBILITY, DISCUSS WHY THE COURTS HAVE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST THE POLYGRAPH, POINT OUT THE POTENTIAL CONTRIBUTION OF THE POLYGRAPH TO MAKING PROBATION A MEANINGFUL PHASE OF THE REHABILITATION PROCESS, AND CONCLUDE THE POLYGRAPH IS OVERDUE FOR ACCEPTANCE IN MODERN JURISPRUDENCE. FURTHERMORE, THEY EMPHASIZE THE CONTRIBUTION THAT THE SCIENTIFIC LABORATORY CAN MAKE IN VALIDATING POLYGRAPH TESTING, DISCUSS REFINEMENTS OF TECHNIQUE, REPORT ON THE POTENTIAL OF CAPILLARY RESPONSES AS A POLYGRAPH CHANNEL, SUMMARIZE RESEARCH ON THE CARDIO ACTIVITY MONITOR, AND MAKE SUGGESTIONS FOR THE CALIBRATION AND STANDARDIZATION OF POLYGRAPHS.
