ASSESSMENT OF THE MAJOR OBSTACLES THAT MUST BE FACED BEFORE EFFECTIVE EDUCATIONAL OR TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR LAW VIOLATORS CAN BE DEVELOPED.
Abstract
LEGAL PROBLEMS WITHIN CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS, CIVIL CONSEQUENCES OF CRIMINAL CONVICTION, PROBLEMS CONFRONTING FEMALE AND JUVENILE OFFENDERS, AND ALTERNATIVES TO INCARCERATION AND COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAMS ARE TOPICS ADDRESSED. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT THE GUIDING PRINCIPLE IN DEVELOPING EDUCATIONAL AND VOCATIONAL PROGRAMS SHOULD BE THE TREATMENT OF LAW VIOLATORS IN THE LEASERESTRICTIVE SETTING REQUIRED FOR THE PROTECTION OF SOCIETY SO THAT LEGAL BARRIERS TO THE EFFECTIVE REENTRY OF INMATES INTO SOCIETY CAN BE REMOVED.
