Abstract
Focusing on common usage, the dictionary is drawn from New York State experience but is applicable to the Federal system as well. Acronyms and abbreviations refer to hundreds of associations, government organizations, and programs. Insets give brief reviews of several areas of current interest, such as women in police work, legal doctrines, and components of the criminal justice system.
