STUDY TO DETERMINE WHETHER EXISTING CALIFORNIA LAWS AND THEIR ENFORCEMENT ARE ADEQUATE FOR THE CONTROL, SUPPRESSION, AND ERADICATION OF CHILD BATTERY AND ABUSE.
Abstract
THE RESEARCH REVEALED THAT EXISTING LAWS AND ENFORCEMENT RESOURCES AND TECHNIQUES HAVE FAILED TO PREVENT OR CONTROL CHILD ABUSE, AND THAT HIGH PUBLIC INTEREST HAS NOT BEEN TRANSLATED INTO MEANINGFUL GOVERNMENTAL ACTION DESIGNED TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE STUDY POINTED UP THE NEED FOR AN INTERDISCIPLINARY DIALOGUE BETWEEN THE INFORMED PRACTITIONER AND THE UNINFORMED GOVERNMENTAL LEADER TO PROVIDE MATERIALS FOR POTENTIAL ACTION ON THE STATE AND LOCAL LEVELS. APPENDICES INCLUDE QUESTIONNAIRES AND SECTIONS OF THE PENAL CODE OF CALIFORNIA. BIBLIOGRAPHY. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
