Abstract
The book contains comforting activities, relaxation techniques and self-evaluation questionnaires. It describes how to develop inner resources for coping, self-understanding and self-care. It also explains how an individual can reclaim a basic sense of safety, self-worth and control; enhance the capacity to trust and be close to others; protect against overwhelming memories; and heal from trauma-related reactions that may be disturbing day-to-day life. The book is divided into a prologue, eight chapters and an epilogue: (1) Prologue: Before You Begin (how the workbook can help, how it is organized and how to use it); (2) After Trauma: Why You Feel Thrown for a Loop; (3) Ways of Coping After the Trauma; (4) Thinking Things Through; (5) Feeling Safe, Being Safe; (6) What Does It Mean To Trust? (7) Regaining Control in Your Life; (8) Valuing Yourself and Others; (9) Feeling Close to Others; and (10) Epilogue: Healing for the Long Term. Tables, appendixes, index
