This study combines qualitative data from three sources to assess lifestyle characteristics of homosexual victims of violent crimes.
Abstract
Data sources include studies of homosexual fathers, participants in public restroom sex, and homosexual victims of murder. Descriptions of victims and offenders are provided, and circumstances surrounding their interaction are detailed. Some homosexual men, those most fearful of being stigmatized as gay, adopt a covert lifestyle which tends to make them subject to criminal victimization. Establishment of gay love relationships and involvement with gay community institutions may reduce vulnerability to violent crimes. Notes and over 30 references are given. (Author abstract modified)
