LIMITATION OF FREEDOM, AS IT IS APPLIED IN POLAND, WAS DERIVED FROM THE PUNISHMENT OF FORCED LABOR WHICH IS KNOWN IN THE USSR AND IN THE LEGISLATION OF OTHER SOCIALIST COUNTRIES.
Abstract
THE DIFFERENCE LIES IN THE FACT THAT THE EMPHASIS IN PLACED NOT SO MUCH ON THE WORK ITSELF AS ON THE LIMITATION OF FREEDOM OF CHOICE OF WORK. THERE ARE ALSO CERTAIN LIMITATIONS OF CIVIL RIGHTS AND CERTAIN SUPPLEMENTARY OBLIGATIONS ARE IMPOSED. HOWEVER, THE OBLIGATION TO WORK PLAYS THE MAJOR ROLE IN THIS NEW SANCTION, WHOSE PRINCIPAL PURPOSE IS TO FOSTER AN ATTITUDE IN THE OFFENDER THAT IS DESIRABLE FROM THE SOCIAL POINT OF VIEW. --IN DUTCH
